The MMHOA meets the 3rd Tuesday in the months of February, May, August and November at 6:30pm in neighbors’ homes.

Playgroup

Garbage and Recycling Information
Friday is our garbage day. On a week with a holiday (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day), Saturday is garbage day.
• Please place all garbage in garbage cans with tight fitting lids.
• Put out trashcans after 3 p.m. on the day before pick up, but before 6 a.m. the day of collection.
• City of Peoria ordinance requires that all emptied trashcans should be removed from the curbline within 24 hours of garbage pick-up.
• Do not overfill containers. Containers weighing more than 50 lbs. will not be collected.
• Place your container(s) within 3 feet of the curb line.
Unacceptable items:
• Freon/grease/motor oil/antifreeze
• Paint (liquid form)
• Biohazardous waste
• Industrial cleaners/solvents
Allowable for City garbage collection:
• Furniture at collection point
• Building materials in 5 foot lengths and bundled (50 lb. weight limit - bundle with rope or twine, not wire or plastic)
• Disassembled items at collection point (i.e. toilet tank/stool, swing sets, concrete from pole)
Yard Waste
Yard waste collection begins third Monday in March and ends on the third Friday in December, and is collected on a weekly basis the same day as other household garbage.
Yard waste must be set out in one of the following methods:
• 30 gallon biodegradable paper yard waste bags (50 lb. weight limit)
• PDC 95-gallon roll-out cart weighing no more than 50 lbs. For rental, $2.50 per month, or to buy, $65.00, contact PDC at 674.5176, select option #1.
• Maximum 45-gallon garbage cans (50-lb. weight limit) with yard sticker attached.
• Cut and tied in bundles less than 5ft. long and weighing less than 50 lb. Use rope or twine only.
• Yard waste stickers available at: Neighborhood Fire Stations; Peoria City Hall, 419 Fulton St. Room 307; Operations & Maintenance Facility, 3505 N. Dries Lane
• Do not mix yard waste with household waste or animal waste.

City garbage collection - Special Case
• Dead animals in city right-of-way- call Monday-Friday, 8a-5p, 494.8850.

Disposal of other Materials/Items not collected by city:
• Motor Oil - Advance Auto Parts, 505 N Western, 674-0519
• Batteries - Recycle at Batteries Plus, 8001 University or Interstate All Battery Center, 4530 N Brandywine Dr.
• Paint - Recycle at ICI Deluxe Paints, 4310 N. Sheridan Rd. (Latex paint cans that are nearly empty can be left open to dry and thrown away with weekly city garbage pickup)
• Appliances - For appliance pickup, call Appliance Recyclers, 4024 SW Adams, 655.0909
• Computers/TVs/anything with a cord - Retro Tech, 401 NE Rock Island, Peoria, 682.0675 ($5 fee for computer monitor or TV)
Dump Location
Hanna City 565.4281 (Household trash is free, but demolition/construction materials are $20 a load)
Recycling
Curbside service, available through PDC is free of charge with a one-time refundable deposit of $50.00. Collection occurs ONCE A MONTH and must be in a PDC 95-gallon cart. For additional information or to sign up for this service, call PDC at 674.5176.
The following is a list of recyclable materials accepted by the City’s program:
• Aluminum cans, trays and foil (must be cleaned)
• Steel cans and tins
• PET soda, water, & flavored beverage bottles (#1 clear and green plastic resin)
• HDPE milk and juice jugs (#2 clear plastic resin)
• HDPE detergent & fabric softener containers (#2 colored plastic resin)
• PVC narrow neck containers only (#3 plastic resin); such as health & beauty aid products, household cleaners
• LDPE grocery containers (#4 plastic resin); such as margarine tubs, frozen desert cups, 6 & 12 pack rings
• PP grocery containers (#5 plastic resin); such as yogurt cups, and narrow neck syrup and ketchup bottles
• #7 plastic resin narrow neck containers only
• Plastic buckets, such as kitty litter containers (5 gallon size max)
• Glass bottles and jars (clear, brown, green): no window glass, dinnerware or ceramics
• Newspaper
• Cardboard (no waxed cardboard or pizza boxes)
• Kraft (brown paper) bags
• Magazines, catalogs and telephone books
• Office, computer, notebook and gift wrap paper (no metal clips, spirals, binders)
• Carrier stock (soda and beer carry cases)
• Chipboard (cereal, cake and food mix boxes, gift boxes, etc.)
• Junk mail and envelopes (no plastic cards, stick on labels or unused stamps)
• Paper back books (no hard back)
City Ordinance For Dogs And Cats
The laws below apply to all City and County residents unless otherwise stated. For a complete copy of the animal control ordinances for your area, call PAWS at (309) 494-8911 or go to municode.com.
- All dogs and cats must remain on their owner's property at all times unless restrained by a leash or cage.
- All dogs and cats over four (4) months of age must be vaccinated against rabies and registered in Peoria County.
- All animal bites to humans must be reported to the animal shelter within 24 hours.
- No dog or cat may create a nuisance by:
- Excessive barking or noisemaking.
- Causing unsanitary or offensive conditions.
- Damaging property.
- Chasing vehicles.
- Attacking, chasing, interfering with or intimidating people.
- No person may abandon any pet
- Every pet owner must provide food, water, shelter, and medical care to their animal.
- No person may treat an animal cruelly by:
- Killing or wounding.
- Beating, ill-treating, tormenting, overloading, or overworking.
- Causing, instigating, permitting or attending any dogfight or other combat between animals or between animals and humans.
- Nor allowing an animal to remain unattended in a motor vehicle where the animal's health is threatened.
- No person may own a vicious or dangerous animal. City residents with more than four dogs and/or cats must obtain a multiple pet license.
- Any female dog or cat in heat must be confined within a secure enclosure.
- Only two dogs are permitted outdoors on lots of less than 10,890 square feet.
- All doghouses and kennels must be placed in the rear yard at least 10 feet from all adjoining property.
